From Exodus to a 72-fold sequence
A well-known Kabbalistic construction uses Exodus 14:19–21. In the traditional Hebrew text, each of these three verses is treated as containing seventy-two letters. The verses are arranged in alternating directions, producing seventy-two columns of three letters each.
The resulting three-letter groups function as divine names or components within the 72-fold tradition. Different Jewish sources and periods use the expression Shem HaMephorash in different ways, so it should not be reduced to a single timeless definition.
From triliteral to angelic name
Renaissance Christian Cabala developed the practice of making these sequences pronounceable by adding endings such as -el or -yah. Johann Reuchlin's early-sixteenth-century work is an important landmark in the transmission of the seventy-two angelic names into Christian and later Hermetic occultism.
Within that later sequence, יחו is conventionally rendered as Yehuiah or in variant transliterations.
